The name of Grecotel is synonymous with quality hotels, personalised service, traditional Greek hospitality, thalassotherapy centres and a caring concern for the environment and culture of Greece.

Grecotel S.A. is the management company for the largest hotel chain in Greece with 18 resort hotels. The four and five star Grecotels are found in Attica, Myconos, Crete, Corfu, Rhodes, Kos, W. Peleponnese and Halkidiki. Grecotel SA is owned jointly by the Daskalantonakis family and the multinational TUI Hotels & Resort Division (World of TUI) which has more than 285 hotels worldwide.


Affiliated to Grecotel is the Daskalantonakis Group which includes a City Hotels Division with 7 four and five star hotels in Athens, Thessaloniki, Kalamata and Alexandroupolis and two Traditional Village Parks in Crete & Corfu.

In 2003 the total bed capacity of the Grecotel Group exceeds 12.000 beds and will climb to over 16.000 in 2004.


For 2002, the Resort Hotels Division reported a turnover of EUR 84,700,000 an average occupancy rate of 90,6% and 1,596,932 guest overnights. The City Hotels Division reported 227,338 room overnights, an average occupancy rate of 66,01%, while turnover amounted to over EUR 35,500,000.


Grecotel co-operates with the leading travel organisations in most European countries. Over 4,000 personnel are employed in the Grecotel offices and hotels, making it the most significant employer in the Greek hospitality sector.

Grecotel has been awarded over 105 international awards by guests, tourism organisations, tour operators and international associations for the quality of its hotels, its upgrading of the Greek tourism product and for its initiatives in the environmental and cultural field.


In 1992, Grecotel became the first Mediterranean hotel group to undertake eco-audits in its hotels according to EU standards and formed an environment and culture department in its head office operations department. These environmental initiatives, including the formation of an unique agricultural department which supplies biological produce to the hotels, has resulted in the Group being honoured with the most prestigious environmental awards worldwide. Grecotel is now a textbook example in leading tourism schools and universities.


The Grecotel Privilege Club for loyal guests has over 60,000 family members. They have visited one of the resort hotels from two to sixty times since Grecotel was founded in 1981.

The Grecotel Counter Club works to service more than 14.000 partner Travel Agency staff in Europe.


In 2002 the group acquired a controlling interest in the Sheraton Sofia Hotel in Sofia, Bulgaria. This year, Grecotel celebrates the homecoming of the Olympic games with another 4 new openings in the heart of Athens including the deluxe King George II, on Constitution Square in Athens, proud member of the Leading Hotels of the World.
