TOURIST PANORAMA

07 - 10 MAY 2009

EXPOATHENS, ATHENS, GREECE

Tourist PanoramaReview of the twelve-year presence of the exhibition TOURIST PANORAMA.

Since 1996 - the year it was launched - the exhibition has become a point of reference for the tourism society, has highlighted the Greek Countryside, the Internal Tourism and the contribution of Greek travelers to the increase of tourism-related businesses' turnover.

The exhibition has presented and established unknown Greek tourist destinations, has promoted alternative ways of tourism through the participation of corresponding exhibitors and has been attracting an annual average of more than 30.000 visitors professionals and broader public.

The organization of events and presentations during the exhibition, the most important being the announcements of the Heads of the Government, the National Greek Tourism Organization and tourism bodies, have stimulated a productive dialogue and exchange of views.

Another important factor has been the continuous presence of Local Authorities, led by General Secretaries of Regions, Heads of Prefectures, Mayors and local government executives, in impressively organized stands and events.

The Organizer's commitment to the constant qualitative improvement of the exhibition's image has been manifested by the "aesthetic" of stands on the one hand and by the continuous upgrading of the exhibition venues on the other.

As from 2006 the Exhibition is moving to a new venue, the Exhibition Center EXPOATHENS which is considered as the newest and most modern one of the broader Athens area. The new exhibition center is offering a large scale of services to both the organizers and the exhibitors, has large parking areas and is situated in the middle of new Attica Ring Road, which connects the Athens International Airport with the center of the town.

The large scale direct and indirect promotion and advertisement of the exhibition in all the media with significant promotional activities has contributed to the diffusion of its reputation, both in Greece and abroad.

Every year the exhibition honours one Greek region, by offering a special place in the exhibition venue and in the promotion and advertising plan. The honoured regions in the past decade were: Arcadia in 1996, the Northern Aegean in 1997, Crete in 1998, Macedonia in 1999, the Peloponnese in 2000, Piraeus and the Saronic Islands in 2001, the Dodecanese in 2002, the Ionian Islands in 2003, Athens, the Olympic Cities and Cyprus in 2004, Thessaly in 2005, Halkidiki in 2006, Pindos and Evia in 2007, Magnesia 2008.

Personalities from the fields of tourism, culture, local government and the broader economic sector have been awarded from Kalofolias Group and have honoured the exhibition with their presence.
